Maria Otero-Fernandez - Founder/ President
"We don't wear capes, we don't have special powers, we are ordinary people coming together as a community for a greater cause."
I am a mother of two amazing boys, a full time employee and wife to my best friend Jayson Fernandez of 16 years. Currently, enrolled at the University of Miami in the Public Administration Master's program. In my education and career path I have learned that dreams can become a reality with hard work, passion and persistence.
My passion to help stems from being a native Nicaraguan and witnessing devastating poverty levels firsthand. I began this organization with a vision to help as many children as possible. Children are the eyes to our future, investing in them is essential to everyone. Having, showing and giving love is the first step in creating a cultural change. I believe there are many people who see my vision and have the passion to help others. I invite you to join us on this journey and become a part of the movement for more love.

“A goal without a plan is only a wish.” -Unknown
I am a full-time mother to a handsome boy, and I am an employee at the University of Miami. I have an Associate Degree in Science and I am currently working on my Bachelor’s in Accounting and Finance. During my free time, I love spending time with my son.
This organization has touched me because as a mother I know that babies require quality care during their early months of development. As a single mother, I personally know the financial difficulties that come with having a baby. Every child deserves the best care possible, and it is our mission to reach them.
Chrystie Gonzalez del Valle- Director of Communications and Community Affairs
I am a University of Miami employee, working as an Events Planner with the Business School. I received my M.A. in Public Relations from the University of Miami and a B.S. in International Affairs from Florida State University (Go Noles!).
I am excited to delve into this project and develop it into an internationally known organization. These families are the future generation and we would be doing the world a disservice if we did not help others that are not able to help themselves. This is why I will be joining the WLM team by handling social media, publicity and promotions.
Katelyn Schelin - Director of Community Outreach
I am an Events Planner at the University of Miami Business School, with a B.S. from Liberty University. My main passion is my daughter, Aleia, and I want to create a better world for her to live in. I strive to be environmentally conscious and to help my neighbors any way that I can. I believe wholeheartedly in the mission of With Love Miami and I will assist in furthering it through our upcoming projects. As the Director of Community Outreach, I will be the point of contact for our local ventures.
